FINAL SCORE: Flying Boxcars 7, Long Island Ducks 5
The Flying Boxcars put together one of their steadier offensive performances of the summer, outlasting the Long Island Ducks 7–5 on a warm August night at Meritus Park. Hagerstown struck first and kept the pressure on, scoring in five different innings and refusing to let Long Island settle in. Trey Williams set the tone early with a run‑scoring double, and the Boxcars broke things open in the third with a cluster of well‑timed hits and productive outs that pushed multiple runners across. Long Island kept clawing back, trimming the deficit in the middle innings, but every time the Ducks made a push, Hagerstown answered with another run or two to keep control of the scoreboard. Carlos Arbolida was a spark throughout the night, reaching base repeatedly and adding an important late‑game double that helped create a key insurance run. The bullpen handled the final stretch with poise, allowing just one run over the last four-plus innings, and Rafael Kelly closed the door to secure the win. By the end of the night, the Boxcars had pieced together nine hits, played clean defense, and delivered a complete team effort that earned them a well‑deserved home victory
